Keeping our People Safe (KOPS) is top priority. Campus Police along with our emergency preparedness efforts outline what do to and where to go in an emergency and how to report suspicious behavior.

Police Department

JCCC's Campus Police Department, located in the Midwest Trust Center (MTC), provides service 24 hours a day. Emergency phones are strategically located throughout campus buildings, common areas and parking lots.

  • For a quick response to an emergency while on campus call 913-469-2500.
  • Non-emergencies can call 913-469-8500 X 4112.
  • For off-campus emergencies call 911.
  • For two-way text communication and one-touch dialing to the JCCC Police and 911, download the Guardian Campus Safety App.

Keeping Our People Safe (KOPS)

KOPS is the overarching all-hazard planning strategy for emergency preparedness at JCCC.
KOPS-Alert is the emergency notification system. All employees and students are automatically a part of this alert system. During an emergency, alerts will be heard on JCCC's public address systems in buildings and outside on campus, seen on digital display boards in hallways, on social media, network computers, and phones.
JCCC-Alert is the College's emergency notification system that sends texts and emails. All JCCC employees and students are automatically enrolled. You can add a phone number and you can opt-out.
KOPS-PLANS include:
  • The College Emergency Response Plan. Download a quick reference emergency guide.
  • The JCCC Emergency Operations Plan defines the internal operations structure for JCCC personnel during an emergency.
  • KOPS-ZONE plan for Emergency Assembly Areas including storm security areas.
KOPS-WATCH is an early detection and prevention strategy to report suspicious behaviors and activity. Do not use it to report immediate threats. Use the confidential KOP-WATCH to report information related to criminal activity, substance abuse, or inappropriate and unusual behavior. JCCC's Behavioral Intervention Team assesses and responds to each report.
